GISCH CONSULTING

Services

People come to us with quite different starting points. Some are planning a change; others have already made one and are finding it harder than expected. A software question can also involve a business decision or a change to someone's work, so the areas below often overlap.

Our services

Business Strategy

We talk through where the business wants to go and what that would involve for the people running it. This can include the work it wants to take on, how it intends to deliver it and the choices people need to make along the way.

PMO & Operating Design

A project management office, or PMO, helps coordinate work across projects. We help work out who needs to know what, who can make a decision and how to keep track of commitments across the team.

Different teams may need different ways of delivering their work. We look at what they need to share without assuming every project must be run in the same way.

Change & Capability

We spend time with the people a change will affect, including those who are not enthusiastic about it. Their concerns can tell us something important about the work or about what they need to feel able to continue doing it.

This can include working through changes to roles, training people and supporting them as they begin working in a different way.

Process Design

We look at how work happens, including the adjustments people make when the written process does not quite cover it. Then we work through what could change, who it would affect and what still needs to be possible.

AI & Work Practice

We look at a proposed use of AI in the context of the work. What would it be doing, what information would it need and who would be able to check the result?

This includes the work around the tool, such as review and handling mistakes. Trying AI is not a commitment to keep using it.

Systems Implementation

We help assess, set up and connect project systems. The products we work with include WorkflowMax, ProWorkflow and Projectworks, with connections to Xero and automation tools such as n8n and Zapier.

An implementation can include working through how the data will be organised, moving it from an existing system, testing reports and helping people use the new setup in their work.

Working together

The first conversation

You don't need to prepare anything for the first meeting. We talk about what is on your mind: what you are looking to change, what bothers you most or what you are hoping to do. It gives us a chance to get to know each other and see whether the work is something we can help with.

If you would like our help, we agree what the work will cover. We usually want to spend some time with you in your working context. Seeing the things you use to manage the work and make decisions helps us understand details that do not always come up in a meeting.

The scope may be a particular question or a longer change project. We discuss what can be done alongside the team's other commitments. Where live systems are involved, assessment starts read-only and changes need explicit approval.

Find a time

What the work can include

  • maps of the written process and how work happens in practice
  • agreed responsibilities and who can make which decisions
  • assessments of how well a system supports the work
  • designs for processes, data and reports
  • configuration and integration work
  • migration and testing plans
  • training and instructions for using and maintaining the system

Who we help

  • Project-based SMEs in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Architecture, engineering, construction, creative agencies, consultancies and related professional services.
  • Work involving project delivery, reporting, team coordination or changes to business systems.
  • Work where we can spend time with the people involved and understand what they do.

Who we may not suit

  • Retail, pure e-commerce and inventory-led businesses. These are outside the practice focus.
  • A prescribed software installation where the process and people side of the work are outside the scope.
  • Work that requires accounting, tax, bookkeeping or financial advice.

Examples of work we take on

  • Looking into an existing project system and the way it is used, then discussing what the findings mean for the business. This can be a separate piece of work.
  • Working through a reporting problem, including where the information comes from and what the report is meant to help someone decide.
  • Choosing and implementing a project platform, with time for data migration, testing and the people who will use it.

Where finance is involved

Our work covers system integration and reporting alignment so project and finance information can be reconciled. We do not provide accounting, tax, bookkeeping or financial advice, and we work alongside the client's accountant where their input is needed.

The case studies describe some previous work. For a question or a conversation, the contact page has email and meeting options.
